At least seven people have died and more than 50 have been injured as hot, dry and windy weather inflames wildfires across Portugal.

The country’s civil protection service said 54 wildfires were burning nationwide, mainly in the north, with 5,300 firefighters mobilised. Portugal’s prime minister, Luís Montenegro, said the country faced ‘some very difficult times over the next few days’
