Wildfires rage in eastern Germany

1,000 firefighters have been deployed to tackle wildfires in eastern Germany.

Two major fires are still burning in the states of Saxony and Thuringia, following a heatwave which saw temperatures soaring to 40 celsius.

Several villages have been put on disaster alert, while one fire burning close to a military training ground has caused stored ammunition to detonate.
