The progressive wing of the Democrats scored another electoral victory in the United States with El-Sayed’s narrow win over his moderate rival Haley Stevens.
El-Sayed will now have to prove he can unite the party behind his bid to win the state from the Republicans in November.
We also speak to Democratic strategist Jim Kessler, who spent decades on Capitol Hill, and Dylan Wegela, a state Representative for Michigan who describes himself as a Democratic socialist.
