The UK may escape the hefty tariffs that could be imposed by the US on foreign nations.
Donald Trump said during his election campaign he was looking at raising tariffs on foreign goods by around 10%.
However, New Jersey governor Phil Murphy – a Democrat – says he believes Mr Trump may consider excluding "renegade" UK from the tariffs because of Brexit.
And Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Darren Jones, told Sky News Trump recognised the importance of the special relationship with the UK.
