Woman who disguised as man joins Magic Circle

A woman who disguised herself as a man to trick her way into the Magic Circle has been allowed to join in her own right – 34 years after she was expelled.

Sophie Lloyd fooled examiners into letting her join the men-only organisation in 1991. When they finally opened to women later that year, she revealed her deception and was promptly kicked out.

After a public search to track her down, the Magic Circle has now apologised.
