They might be world champions, but you wouldn’t know it by the number of fans that follow the country’s national women’s football team.
Spain play England on Sunday in the Euros final in Switzerland, a rematch of the 2023 World Cup final in Australia, which was won by the Spaniards.
That match was tainted by a sexual assault on Jenni Hermoso by the country’s federation president, Luis Rubiales, who kissed the player without consent as the players received their winners’ medals.
Fans told Sky’s Rob Harris female players are still not getting the same respect or support bestowed upon the country’s male athletes.
