World Athletics orders female athletes to take gene test to compete

World Athletics says athletes who want to compete in female events at September’s World Championships in Tokyo, will have to take a test to determine their biological sex. From September 1st, they will need to take a cheek swab or blood test just once in their lifetime to prove they are eligible for the female category in world-ranking events.
