Pope Francis ‘touched minds and hearts’ and wanted to ‘build bridges, not walls’ – that was one of the messages at the pontiff’s funeral this morning, before his coffin was moved from the Vatican to his final resting place.
An estimated quarter of a million mourners turned out to watch the service, with 50,000 in St Peter’s Square, where the mass took place. Dozens of world leaders also looked on, including President Trump and President Zelenskyy – who met inside the basilica, before the funeral began. Anna Geary reports.
