The mother of one of the Southport victims has told the inquiry her and her husband often asks themselves "what have we done so wrong in life to deserve this life of pain?" following her death.
Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, "only went to dance and make bracelets" when she attended the Taylor Swift-themed dance class on 29 July 2024, her mum Jenni Stancombe said, but instead she "never got to bring her home".
Giving evidence to the public inquiry into the events, Jenni, 36, sitting beside her husband David, 37, said they needed to "understand how this happened".
"We are good parents, just like so many others across the country on that day, wanting to do something nice for our little girl at the start of the holidays," she told the hearing.
"But instead, we didn’t get to bring her home. We lost everything that day.
"And I need to understand how this happened."
