This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyi on Thursday in his evening video message in Kiev. Colonel General Olexander Syrskyj was appointed as his successor, the previous commander of the Ukrainian land forces.<br \/>\nUnder Salushnyj&#8217;s leadership, the Ukrainian troops withstood the Russian invasion in February 2022. Over the course of the first year of the war, they even recaptured occupied parts of the Kharkiv region and the regional capital Kherson in the south.
