Netanyahu said a permanent cease-fire would be a \u201cnonstarter\u201d, a statement which seemed to undermine a cease-fire proposal presented by US President Joe Biden on Friday. Speaking at the White House, President Biden presented the three-stage proposal, which calls for a permanent cease-fire and return of hostages held by Hamas. He underscored that the war in Gaza needed to come to an end. Biden stated that the proposal had been submitted by the Israelis, yet Netanyahu\u2019s recent remarks seem to illustrate his opposition to the proposal despite its approval by the Israeli war cabinet.<br \/>\nOn Saturday, crowds turned out in Tel Aviv urging the government to accept the truce.
