In a pre-recorded video posted on Facebook before the European parliament elections, Fico said there was no reason to believe the attack on him on 15 May was the act of a \u2018lone lunatic\u2019 and he called the attacker an activist of the Slovak opposition. Fico has been recovering from multiple wounds after being shot in the abdomen as he greeted supporters in the town of Handlov\u00e1. A suspect was arrested.
