In 2017, he was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p>Desperate for answers, Mike&#8217;s wife Pat searched the internet for support groups, studies to join, anything to help slow this down. Eventually, they found Dr. Dean Ornish and his clinical trial in 2019. Dr. Ornish reports that after 40 weeks in the intervention group, all four of Mike&#8217;s cognitive tests improved. Those peer-reviewed results have been published in the journal Alzheimer&#8217;s Research &amp; Therapy.<\/p>\n<p>CNN chief medical correspondent @drsanjaygupta investigates the latest medical research showing that symptoms of Alzheimer&#8217;s disease can be prevented, slowed and potentially even reversed. In a report spanning five years, Dr. Gupta follows Alzheimer&#8217;s patients through their courses of treatment and explains why so many experts are calling it the &quot;most hopeful&quot; era for dementia patients and their loved ones.
