{"id":234112,"date":"2025-04-10T18:05:20","date_gmt":"2025-04-10T17:05:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsisc.com\/videos\/women-to-launch-legal-action-over-pregnancy-drug-linked-to-cancer-itv-news\/"},"modified":"2025-04-10T18:05:20","modified_gmt":"2025-04-10T17:05:20","slug":"women-to-launch-legal-action-over-pregnancy-drug-linked-to-cancer-itv-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsisc.com\/videos\/women-to-launch-legal-action-over-pregnancy-drug-linked-to-cancer-itv-news\/","title":{"rendered":"Women to launch legal action over pregnancy drug linked to cancer | ITV News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i2.ytimg.com\/vi\/aBHQmRP6dyY\/hqdefault.jpg\" alt=\"Women to launch legal action over pregnancy drug linked to cancer | ITV News\"><br \/> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/aBHQmRP6dyY\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe> <\/p>\n<p>An ITV News investigation has heard from more than 100 women who believe they were exposed to a controversial drug linked to cancer &#8211; which was prescribed on the NHS for nearly four decades.<\/p>\n<p>The anti-miscarriage drug Diethlystilbestrol, commonly known as DES, was given to hundreds of thousands of women, some of whom have developed rare cancers &#8211; and the harm has been &quot;passed down generations\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>One woman exposed to DES in her mother\u2019s womb has had more than 30 medical procedures she described as &quot;barbaric&quot; and is now preparing to take legal action.<\/p>\n<p>Suzanne Massey, 56, from Liverpool believes the drug was given to her mother while she was pregnant and is to blame for a lifetime of &quot;destructive&quot; health problems that have left her unable to walk at times due to severe pain.<\/p>\n<p>In response to our investigation, a Department of Health and Social Care spokesperson said: \u201cOur sympathies are with anyone harmed by the historic use of Diethylstilboestrol (DES).
