The announcement came as thousands of people took to the streets to celebrate the first anniversary of the uprising that removed former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from power.<\/p>\n<p>In a televised address, Yunus also vowed to stand against oppression &#8211; and called on the country to seize the opportunity for reform. Last year&#8217;s demonstrations against public-sector job quotas boiled over into clashes with police. More than 1,400 people lost their lives while protesting, before Hasina was forced to resign and fled to India. <\/p>\n<p>The families of the victims have demanded she return to Bangladesh and face justice.
