Now the same warning signs are appearing again, this time in El-Obeid, where half a million people have been cut off from food, water and medical supplies for more than 18 months, facing drone strikes and sexual violence. Residents in El-Obeid tell DW about their daily struggle to survive. DW correspondent Mariel M\u00fcller, who reported from Sudan in 2024 and spoke with survivors of RSF brutality, draws on that experience.
