Khan pointed to what he called two corrupt families of his political opponents and a military that has played an oversized role in Pakistan&#8217;s politics, including military rulers who imposed martial law. Citing the nearly 180 criminal charges filed against him over the last year, Khan said that if not in jail, he plans to contest the country&#8217;s next general election but says the current government has arrested some 10,000 party workers and that its &quot;entire leadership is underground or in jail.&quot; <\/p>\n<p>Will they even let us contest it, he asked in an interview with DW&#8217;s Tim Sebastian. <\/p>\n<p>Khan said he had never had any criminal case against him until the age of 70, and that the government has been conducting a &quot;total crackdown&quot; against his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party.
