Xi Jinping joins Putin for Russia military parade in Moscow

Russia has held its Victory Day parade in Red Square – marking the 80th anniversary of Nazi Germany’s defeat in the Second World War. China’s President Xi Jinping joined Vladimir Putin as thousands of troops marched past.

The celebrations were held under tight security including a complete shutdown of mobile internet and other online services. Ukraine described the event as a ‘parade of cynicism’.
