Well as he headed into his meeting with Mr Zelenskyy a short time ago, Donald Trump hinted to reporters that he could convince Vladimir Putin to end the war in Ukraine.
But he said the two leaders did not like each other with a lot of "bad blood" between them.
Mr Zelenskyy said he was willing to "sit and speak" – but there should also be a ceasefire. So what’s at stake in these talks?
