The Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy has described the talks in the White House with President Trump

and European leaders as a "truly significant step towards ending the war".
He said the leaders were continuing to work out the specifics of security guarantees – while a phone call took place between Donald Trump and Russia’s Vladimir Putin to discuss the prospect of a trilateral meeting with Mr Zelenskyy.
While the talks took place, Russia launched hundreds of drones and missiles at Ukraine, leaving 15 people dead and scores injured.
