Energy price scandal as direct debit payers charged too much – 500,000 accounts probed

ENERGY companies have been taking too much money from customers via direct debit payments, the watchdog said today. Ofgem has now ordered all energy suppliers to review the accounts of 500,000 households whose debit payments were increased by 100 percent or more between February and the end of April.
