RHUBARB was- around 5,000 years ago in China – used predominantly for medicinal purposes. We started growing rhubarb in the UK and Europe during the 1600s, but still for its medicinal properties. It took another 100 years before we started seeing rhubarb being planted, grown and harvested for the kitchen table.
