The reverse side of the coin depicts Allied soldiers disembarking a landing craft and racing onto the beaches of Normandy with offensive aircraft in the skies above. It is accompanied by the inscription “D-Day 6 June 1944 Utah Omaha Gold Juno Sword”, the codenames for five assault beaches that formed at of part of Operation Neptune, the largest amphibious military assault in history.
