Sir Keir Starmer promised that Britain will "build an army that is 10 times more lethal" as he launched the government’s long-awaited defence investment plan (Dip) on Tuesday.
During a speech, the prime minister announced that the Dip will provide an additional £15 billion, which is £1.5 billion more than was promised to former defence secretary John Healey.
The plan was originally due last year, but had been held back amid a row within government over the amount of funding, which eventually led to Healey’s resignation earlier this month.
