Brazilian defender Jacy Maranhão has gone viral after he celebrated a goal by running off the pitch, jumping over the advertising boards and falling down a hole, before climbing back out.
The tunnel lead to the away team’s dressing room. He suffered an ankle injury which meant he was subbed off after the incident.
The 29-year-old scored in the 41st minute for Coritiba FC in their Brazilian Serie A match against Chapecoense, but the goal was eventually disallowed after a ruling from VAR.
This is not the first time this has happened at the Couto Pereira Stadium as in 2014 striker Joel Tagueu fell headfirst into the tunnel hole while celebrating his goal in Coritiba’s 3-1 victory against São Paulo.
