French President Emmanuel Macron will hold an emergency meeting, following violent protests that saw buildings set on fire and shops looted.
Hundreds of thousands of people participated in demonstrations across France on Saturday, October 17, denouncing rising living costs and poor school conditions.
At least 1,800 people were arrested, and more than 500 police officers, gendarmes, and firefighters injured.
