Playing music out loud on the bus could now land you a £100 fine #bus

Have you ever been annoyed by a fellow passenger on public transport playing music or videos our loud instead of through headphones? Well, the government is introducing new measures to tackle antisocial behaviour on buses and trains, including fines of up to £1,000 buses, as part of a new campaign to discourage “loudcasting”.

If told by authorised officers – including Transport Safety Officers and police – to stop playing music out loud, a passenger can be removed from the bus and still face the fine.

The new enforcement powers on buses were made possible by the Bus Services Act 2025, meaning all local transport authorities across England can set and enforce their own local rules. #bus #tfl #publictransport #train #tube
