US President Donald Trump made a surprise announcement of an energy ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine on Sunday that he said was "effective immediately." It appears Trump didn’t consult Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, who said he was still waiting to see details of the deal. Trump’s announcement came days after he declared a temporary easing of US sanctions on Russian diesel, prompting outrage in Europe and Kyiv. DW spoke with Anastassia Fedyk, Assistant Professor of Finance at the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley in California.
